VA North Texas Gets New Funding for Dallas Hospital Upgrades

Dallas VA facilities are getting new operating rooms, elevators and privacy upgrades this fall. VA North Texas Health Care System has received $2.681 billion in funding for infrastructure upgrades at its Dallas facilities, including renovations to operating rooms, surgical lights and booms, and work on the Dallas Medical Inpatient Unit aimed at improving patient privacy and pandemic-era care standards. The funds were part of a larger nationwide effort supported by the Veterans Health Administration's Non-Recurring Maintenance program, which supported $4.8 billion in VA spending in fiscal year 2026. The projects benefit veterans by improving surgical equipment, patient privacy, and elevator reliability. The funding comes as VA reports handling more patients than in previous years, enrolling over 300,000 new veterans in VA health care in 2026 and completing over 3.4 million appointments outside normal operating hours.
