Dallas woman says persistent mammogram staff likely saved her life

A West Dallas woman credits a free Parkland mobile mammogram program and its persistent staff with detecting her early-stage breast cancer in time to save her life. Ann Harrington, a West Dallas woman, has credited a Parkland community breast cancer screening for saving her life during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Harrington, who was 45 years old at the time, had no symptoms of breast cancer and all previous screenings were clear. Parkland Community Development Specialist Jeff Howard, who saw Harrington's absence from her appointment, encouraged her to attend the free screening. The screening detected an abnormality and confirmed Harrington had Stage 1 triple negative breast cancer, an aggressive form of breast Cancer. She underwent treatment and counseling services at the Moody Center for Breast Health at Parkland and is now cancer free.
